Patrick Mahomes Praises Rashee Rice's Route Running and Catching Skills

The Kansas City Chiefs are kicking off their offseason program, and it's not just about getting the squad back together—it's about comebacks.

Wide receiver Rashee Rice, who was sidelined with a knee injury in the fourth week of the 2024 season, is one of those players aiming for redemption. Although the Chiefs are not engaging in full-scale practices yet, quarterback Patrick Mahomes has already set the bar high for Rice based on initial impressions.

“The expectations are high,” Mahomes shared with ESPN's Adam Teicher. “He looks really good. He is running routes, he’s catching the football. I don’t know when we get back into the actual OTAs how much he’ll be able to do, but he’s been able to do everything here as far as running routes and everything like that.”

Rice isn't the only player back in the fold. Joining him is Hollywood Brown, who also turned stints on the injured reserve into a comeback tale. Brown managed to return late last season and, having re-signed with the Chiefs during the offseason, seems poised for a bigger impact next year.

With both players nearly back to full strength, the Chiefs are hopeful that complete offseasons of preparation will set the foundation for major performances in 2025.
