As the NFL season approaches, the AFC East is once again gearing up for a battle between two historic rivals: the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots. The Bills have dominated the division over the past five seasons, but with new talent in New England, things could get interesting.
Milton Williams, the talented defensive tackle who recently joined the Patriots, is bracing for his first encounter with Josh Allen, Buffalo's formidable MVP quarterback. Williams missed the opportunity to line up against Allen in 2023 due to an untimely absence, but he's eagerly anticipating the challenge ahead.
On the "Green Light with Chris Long" podcast, Williams expressed his readiness and respect for Allen: "I ended up missing that game against Josh Allen. So, I haven’t got to play him yet. Since I got here just talking with Barmore, he was like, ‘Yeah, Josh Allen is probably the hardest quarterback I’ve had to bring down.’ Just big, fast, he kind of reminds me of Cam Newton. I compare him to Cam Newton, just being that big, being that mobile, having such a big arm, make any throw. It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m up for it. I’m up for it for sure."
With the Patriots and Bills clashing twice each season, Williams will get ample opportunity to test his mettle against Allen. Such matchups are why Williams signed a lucrative four-year, $104 million deal with New England, signaling his commitment to enhancing the Patriots' defense.
This offseason, the Patriots have been busy on the defensive front, bringing in cornerback Carlton Davis, linebacker Robert Spillane, and pass rusher Harold Landry. These strategic moves aim to bolster a defense that ranked 22nd in the league last year.
The stage is set for some electrifying face-offs, and Williams, along with the new defenders, is poised to make an impact. Fans are certainly in for a treat as these two teams clash in what promises to be a fiercely competitive AFC East race.
