Donovan Ezeiruaku Promises to Bring Grit to the Dallas Cowboys

Not long after learning he was headed to the Dallas Cowboys, Boston College edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku received a call that most rookies dream of getting: it was Micah Parsons, welcoming him to the team.

“It’s going to be fun,” Ezeiruaku shared, as recounted by team reporter Tommy Yarrish. “Micah reached out after the draft, saying ‘Let’s get to work,’ and I was all in, saying, ‘Let’s do it.’”

Partnering with an athlete like Parsons on the field is a thought that excites Ezeiruaku. “Having someone of his caliber on the other side of the field—that’s a special opportunity.”

Ezeiruaku steps into big shoes, drafted to replace the veteran DeMarcus Lawrence. Lawrence, who had held a significant presence on the Cowboys' defensive line for 11 years, parted ways with the team to join the Seahawks. The departure was less than amiable, highlighted by a public spat with Parsons.

Still, the arrival of Ezeiruaku is more than welcome news to Parsons, relieved to move beyond the shadow of controversy.

Over his senior year, Ezeiruaku left a lasting impression, notching 16.5 sacks, 20.5 tackles for losses, and forcing three fumbles. He concluded his college tenure with a formidable resume: 30 sacks, 47 tackles for losses, and eight forced fumbles.

“They’re getting someone who is athletic off the edge but is also a dawg,” Ezeiruaku asserted. “I’m eager to be physical in the run game and aggressive in hunting quarterbacks. I’m a hard worker, and beyond that, a great person. That’s what the Dallas Cowboys can expect from me.”

He emphasized versatility as the key to distinguishing oneself in the pro leagues. “You can’t just be a one-trick pony. That’s what sets apart good players from great ones. Being versatile is vital in this game.”
