Just moments after learning of his next chapter in professional football, Boston College edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku received a call that made the moment even brighter. The man on the other end of the line was none other than Micah Parsons, welcoming Ezeiruaku to the Dallas Cowboys with eager enthusiasm.
“It's going to be fun,” Ezeiruaku shared, enthusiastically recalling his conversation. “He reached out after the draft, saying 'Let's get to work,' and I answered, 'Let's do it.'
With Parsons on the opposite side of the field, excitement brews for Ezeiruaku. “I’m thrilled to have someone of that caliber alongside. It’ll be very special to experience,” he added.
Ezeiruaku steps in to fill the shoes of DeMarcus Lawrence, who has moved on to the Seahawks after leaving a distinct mark on the Cowboys' defensive line over 11 seasons. Lawrence's exit wasn't without drama, finding himself in a public exchange of words with Parsons. While Parsons might not miss Lawrence, he certainly welcomes Ezeiruaku's second-round draft arrival.
In his senior season, Ezeiruaku compiled impressive stats: 16.5 sacks, 20.5 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles. His college career totals boast 30 sacks, 47 tackles for loss, and eight forced fumbles, underscoring the impact he hopes to bring to Dallas.
“They’re getting somebody who is athletic off the edge but is a dawg,” Ezeiruaku said with conviction. “I'm someone who'll stick my nose in the run game and chase quarterbacks relentlessly. A hard-working player and a good person off the field—that’s what the Dallas Cowboys are getting in me.”
Versatility is key, as Ezeiruaku pointed out. “You can’t just be a one trick pony. That's what sets apart the good from the great. Being adaptable is crucial, and that's where I strive to excel,” he remarked.
