Dolphins running back De'Von Achane is setting his sights on a lofty milestone: a 1,000-yard rushing season. After a standout rookie year in 2023 where he set an NFL record for yards per carry at 7.8, and ranked third in team history with 1,499 scrimmage yards last season, Achane believes there's still room to grow.
Reflecting on his performance, Achane sees untapped potential. “Going over the film, I can tell I have left a lot of plays out there,” Achane mentioned in a conversation with Omar Kelly from the Miami Herald. “I feel like there could have been more.”
Despite his achievements last year, Achane was just 93 yards shy of the 1,000-yard mark, hindered in part by the offensive line's struggles. Notably, he managed impressive runs of 50 and 61 yards during the concluding games of the regular season, boosting his total yardage.
Achane acknowledges the improvement he's made. He's proud of the “big jump” from his rookie season to the last, and he's hungry for another leap as he eyes the 2025 season.
“I feel defenses focus on stopping numbers '10' and '17,' opening up the field for me,” Achane said with a hint of optimism for more opportunities in the future.
