RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes have locked in a key piece of their success, re-signing forward Eric Robinson to a four-year deal worth $6.8 million.
Robinson, a crucial part of the Hurricanes' strategy on ice, will account for $1.7 million against the salary cap annually, securing his presence through the 2028-29 NHL season. This announcement was made by General Manager Eric Tulsky on Friday, marking a significant move for the team's roster.
The Bellmawr, New Jersey native, showcased his top form last season - scoring career-highs with 14 goals, 18 assists, and amassing a total of 32 points. This impressive burst came after Robinson joined the Hurricanes as a free agent, proving his value on the ice. During Carolina's thrilling run to the Eastern Conference final, Robinson added three points in 15 games before their journey was halted by the eventual champions, the Florida Panthers.
“We saw exactly what we expected from Eric last season,” Tulsky noted. “His physicality and speed align perfectly with our playing style.” Such attributes have evidently contributed to Carolina's consistent playoff appearances—an impressive seven consecutive times under the leadership of coach Rod Brind’Amour.
At 30, Robinson's career statistics include 413 NHL regular-season and playoff games with stints at the Blue Jackets, Buffalo Sabres, and now the Hurricanes. His experience, including a past playoff appearance with Columbus during the 2020 bubble, adds invaluable depth to the Hurricanes lineup.
