North Carolina continues to bolster its roster with top-tier talent, securing a significant commitment on Wednesday.
Four-star defensive back Jamarrion Gordon has decided to bring his skills to Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels for the 2026 season.
The Tar Heels managed to outmaneuver Ole Miss and additional suitors for the Jackson (Ala.) High School standout, who had previously given a verbal commitment to UCF.
“It came down to the coaching staff... I know they’re gonna develop me,” Gordon conveyed to Rivals, expressing confidence in his choice to play for the Tar Heels.
His aim, like many before him, is the NFL—something Belichick's coaching team in Chapel Hill knows well, given their extensive NFL experience as both coaches and former players.
North Carolina made a compelling late play for Gordon, who is not only the 16th-rated safety on the Rivals250 list but also showcased his versatility by contributing offensively during Jackson High's state title pursuit last fall.
“As soon as I stepped foot on the campus, all attention was on me,” Gordon reflected about his visit earlier this month.
“Since then, they’ve stayed in contact every single day… Whenever they played Duke in basketball, the fans and the coaches really made me feel at home. I didn’t want to leave them, so I’ve known this was my home ever since.”
